Hands-on methods in class
Hands on adjustments may be understood as any of the following:
- a non-verbal instruction.
- a therapeutic assisted stretch or pressure.
- an alignment “correction” in a position or an assistance to explore a deeper experience of yoga postures.
Jim has worked extensively with these methods since the 1990s. He transfers skills from therapeutic bodywork (Zen Shiatzu, Remedial Therapy and traditional Thai Massage) and uses this modality to share his in depth understanding of both the biomechanical alignment and subtle energetic function of practicing yoga asana.
Since the pandemic years, many teachers have lost touch with the skill of using hands-on methods in class. This is a an opportunity to bring back this valuable skill.
