Our base will be in Dharamkot, a village near Dharamsala, which lies in a region inhabited by the Kangri people, and a large Tibetan community.
The focus of this retreat will be on circling back to the roots of yoga and examining the culture behind the practices of yoga. Some recent readings have inspired investigation into the influence that beautiful Tibetan Vajrayana Yoga traditions have had on our current understanding of yoga and yogic psychology.
While in the western world, the study of the mind began in the 19th & 20th centuries, the discussion & analysis of mental wellness has been at the heart of Buddhist Dharma & Yoga for thousands of years. This hillside town is the home of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan government in exile and has developed into the world’s most important center for the preservation of both Tibetan Culture and for the Tibetan Vajrayana Yoga Tradition.
The Tibetans have been graciously welcomed by the Hindu Kangri people and by the Indian Government.
